What Is SME Backup?
SME Backup is a simple to use but highly secure and
effective method of doing daily, weekly and monthly
data backups of your important computer files. This
may be your e-mail, accounts and payroll data, word
and other office documents as well as database and
backoffice systems.
SME Backup is a software program that you install
on your local computer or server. It then manages
your backups locally and connects to our servers,
located in a secure Tier 1 data centre, to send the
compressed and encrypted files from your system to
the servers creating the remote backed up copy of
your data.
SME Backup can backup files from all your local systems.
It runs on multiple platforms (Windows, MAC's, Linux
etc.) and has a number of agents to allow you to backup
such systems as MS Exchange (server and mail), SQL,
Oracle and other databases.
To use the system, once installed, you can just sit
back. The backups can run on a schedule without human
involvement, thus removing the risk of people forgetting
or not having time to run the backup. The data is
held off site in our secure data centre so you have
no tapes and disks to remember to bring in each day,
to lose or to replace periodically. After each backup
you will receive an email telling you that the backup
was successful, or, in the unlikely event of a problem,
details of the problem allowing you to take appropriate
action to remedy the error.
